Monday Musings

The First Day Of School!

Today was the first day of the 2009-2010 school year.

My desk, as yet uncluttered (I did stuff things away before I took the picture!).

As theResource Teacher, I do not have students in my room on the first day.

But I do have Taco Bell puppies monitoring my progress!

White Board and Letter Sound Cards and Number Line and other good stuff.

Meeting area

Today I did my yard duty, met with my resource students, gave the teachers fact sheets on each student and worked with my aide on our schedule for the year.  I showed the principal and vice principal the gapping hole under our building where the skunks and other critters like to hang out.

Later in the day the janitor told us that he he actually saw a skunk coming out at night, from its home under our room.  Lovely.

I did not take a picture of the hole - I will have to do that tomorrow and share it later.

As you can tell, I opened the package for the camera cord, so I am now able to share my room, in the middle of the portable - otherwise known as Room 29.  Ta Da!

Outside the Portable

Thank you so much for joining me on my first day of school!

Have a wonderful wonderful week my friends!

  1. I am so glad you got up and running with that camera cord, because it is very cool getting to see where you'll be spending your days.

I don't think I've ever mentioned that my youngest son started doing about half an hour a day in Resource when he was in 4th grade. Even just that little bit of time in his day made a world of difference. So I ♥ Resource teachers!!!

  2. laura - thanks! i am so glad to hear about your resource victory! Thanks for the visit and comment and positive upbeat end to my blogging session tonight. (I'm all fagged out...) Bless you!

  3. Yay! For the first day of actual school. That one is my favorite of each year... the last is my second favorite. Ha.

Your room looks great! Nice, bright, interesting without too much distraction.

I love the Taco Bell puppies. I have a dino that fights army guys. How can you work with kids if you can't be part kid (at heart) yourself?

  4. ananda - i agree with all you sadi - the first day is good - and so is the last day!

i did not take a picture of my Tigger bookshelve with Curious Goerge in an Airplane on top.

I love the dino - how cute is that!

  5. Your room looks quite fun and non-threatening. I like the Chihuahuas overlooking you.

  6. when i was a kid this time of year was totally depressing.

  7. yellowdog - come on down! the more the merrier! we would love to have you!

AlienCG - I love the Chihuahuas, too - I used to have them in my car but my room was so ookie (rhymes with cookie) when I first got there, I moved them inside to keep me company. Thanks on the room - I'm pretty happy with it this year. We'll see what it looks like at the end of the year!

billy - imagine how your teachers felt! ;-)

  8. I knew there was something about you that I liked.
I've been around teachers all my life, they're a pretty good bunch in my book. You've got a very important job, even if the pay doesn't reflect it.

  9. thanks texlahoma! teaching is important and life changing. for all participants! too bad about the pay, though ;(
