Clarence Birdseye is generally tapped as the first to freeze fish - (but the Inuit did it before he did - but did not see the money making potential). (The Indians always get left out of the credits.) Clarance was a fur trader in Labrador, NF. He figured out if the fish was frozen quickly it was still delicious months later. Here is a very disturbing trivial fact -All pet hamsters are descended from a single female wild golden hamster and her litter of 12 young in Syria in 1930. Hamsters are pure chewing evil. We had several - the first pair -2 brothers - one killed the other - I heard it's last dying breath. Yuck. The second pair was supposed to be 2 sisters - well a litter later - I took them all to the pet store - probably to their absolute death in a reptile's stomach - Good Riddance!
It's fun - but you will not be feeding any poor children in Africa if you play. Oh well.
And a more trivial death fact (be prepared for more to come in the next few weeks) - Attila the Hun died in 453 AD from a nosebleed on his wedding night.
And that is quite a honker - no wonder it's bleeding killed him.

What a fun post! The fish remind me of Han Solo when he was cryogenically frozen. I don't know why. They just do. ha.
ReplyDeleteHamsters are not fun. I don't know why anyone would want one. They bite. I can't stand the little beggers. Now rats are great. If you have to have a rodent. They can be trained too.
Walt Disney was frozen too - so he can terrorize a whole 'nother genreation with rodents, i suppose. Rats are indeed good pets, but it's hard convincing others of that
ReplyDeleteCool decaying boat! I love that show Deadliest Catch, they showed a scene with all these old wrecked fishing boats that were washed up on some shore... very beautiful, rusting and decaying. Kind of magical I have to say.

Never had a hamster, but I did have white mice, guinea pigs, and a chinchilla growing up and they were sweet pets. Thanks to your warning, I will never own a hamster.

Decaying boat? I could've sworn that was a clubhouse like the kind we used to build when we were kids. That just goes to show you how bad we were at construction.
Oh, I had a hamster as a kid...horrible creature. I never let my kids have one, but they did have a rat who was very smart and friendly and had no apparent desire to escape.
